Last weekend, nestled against the breathtaking backdrop of the Swiss Alps, Moncler Grenoble hosted a mesmerizing showcase of its Autumn/Winter 2024 collection.

CEO and chairman Remo Ruffini is well-known for putting on extravagant shows, and after going silent for a few seasons, the ski-wear offshoot label orchestrated an event of extreme luxury and style.

Ruffini's impressive track record includes some pretty iconic shows, such as the 70th-anniversary celebration in front of Milan’s Piazza del Duomo and the Moncler Genius 2023 show in London, complete with foam parties, musical performances, and a fleet of Mercedes Benz G-wagons. For this event, he chose the posh Swiss skiing location which he often visited as a child- now we see where he got his taste for luxury.

150 esteemed guests flew in to attend the brand’s first destination fashion show, and I’m sure many turned it into a lavish ski trip. Undoubtedly, the expectations were high, and Moncler delivered an experience that made the journey well worth it.

Guests were warmly welcomed with a gift and a request—a long white puffer coat and a matching knitted beanie, with the condition they wear it to the show. Shuttled to the location, they indulged in hot drinks while comfortably perched on heated chairs, savouring the anticipation of the spectacle to unfold.

The autumn/winter showcase was held in a fairy-tale setting- amongst the snowy forest lit aglow by bright lights, when the models emerged it was like they had just stepped out from a stylish wardrobe and into Narnia.

The collective vision of guests in their all-white attire added to the surreal ambiance and was almost reminiscent of an 'eyes wide shut' cult gathering of elites—until the show started, then all thoughts went to the lavish clothing on the snow-kissed runway.

The star-studded audience included fashion icon Kate Moss, Italian film director Paolo Sorrentino and Top Boy actor Michael Ward. Considering Moncler Grenoble’s mountaineering heritage, it was only natural they invite winter athletes like snowboarding legend Shaun White, freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy, and Olympic Alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn.

After the show, the festivities continued into the night as guests were whisked away to a Dracula themed party at an exclusive members club nearby.

Moncler Grenoble boasts a rich history, having served as the official supplier to the French national alpine skiing team during the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympic Games. While the brand continues to celebrate its sporting heritage, it has gracefully transitioned into a symbol of luxury under Ruffini's leadership since 2003.

The Autumn/Winter 2024 collection embraces the world of winter sports, but there is no denying the exclusivity and grandeur of the clothing- what else can you expect of a show set in the V.I.P. town of St Moritz?

The meticulously curated collection seamlessly intermingled an indulgence in fashion with the practicality of technical performance gear, crafting a high-style winter wardrobe. A total of 91 looks graced the runway, with an abundance of both menswear and womenswear.

Ruffini's vision was to strike a harmonious balance between the desire to turn heads and not wanting to be overtly flashy- sometimes less is more. The collection spans all facets of winter activities, from conquering the challenging ski slopes to unwinding in the cozy lodge afterward.

High-tech puffers, chunky beanies and sophisticated ski suits covered all the sporting bases, whilst opulent shearling coats, shaggy yeti boots and duvet-inspired outerwear took the fashion to another level.

Ski-friendly accessories like puffer scarves, water bottle bags, and tinted goggles accompanied the outfits, and models were kitted out with helmets, snowboards and skis complete the vision.

The highlight of the collection had to be the geometric quilting that elevated many of the coats, creating meticulous patterns and colour combinations. The inclusion of sumptuous materials, fashion statement pieces and expert technical gear made the collection a comprehensive and attractive take on winter fashion.

As Moncler Grenoble continues to cement its place at the top of the charts in the luxury market, this collection offers a tantalizing glimpse into the stylish, if slightly outrageous holiday habits of the elite.
