Venezia FC have officially taken to the pitch in their new 2024/25 home kits, designed by Drake and his Nike sub-brand, NOCTA. The Serie A team donned the new kits over the weekend in their match against Lazio, marking a fresh chapter for the Italian football club. While the scoreline wasn’t the ideal start to the season, the jersey’s at least, were a win.

This partnership not only introduces a fresh design for the team’s kits but also introduces NOCTA as the official kit sponsor for Venezia FC.

Drake’s involvement with the club extends beyond the NOCTA branding; he has also been confirmed as an investor following APEX Capital’s acquisition of a minority stake in Venezia FC earlier this year. This investment highlights Drake’s growing interest in the world of football, adding another layer to his diverse portfolio of ventures.

What is NOCTA?

Drake launched NOCTA with Nike in 2020, quickly capturing the attention of his zealous fanbase with a series of highly anticipated, limited releases. The brand carries a distinct identity rooted in Drake's creative process. The name “NOCTA” directly references Drake’s affinity for late-night studio sessions, or as he calls it, his “nocturnal creative process.”

In essence, NOCTA is dedicated to night owls and grinders—those who work tirelessly towards their goals, day and night. Say what you will about Drake, but his expansion from music to television, fashion, and now sports leaves no doubt that he is a man of ambition.

The brand specialises in streetwear and performance wear that emphasises both functionality and comfort, making it a natural fit for those who lead busy, on-the-go lifestyles. Each NOCTA drop, characterised by neutral colour palettes and modern sportswear aesthetics, tends to be a hit, especially the popular NOCTA x Nike Hot Step sneakers. Drake’s influential persona, combined with Nike’s advanced technology, lends both hype and credibility to the brand.

Drake has shared that NOCTA’s style draws from his urban upbringing, inspired by the energy and vibe of cities like London, Paris, and Toronto. With this latest collaboration, Venice joins that list, expanding the brand’s cultural footprint.

A New Direction for Venezia FC

The introduction of NOCTA as Venezia FC’s kit sponsor marks a new direction for the club, which previously partnered with the Italian sportswear brand Kappa. This move, solidified in 2021, helped elevate the club’s profile, resulting in some of the most talked-about jerseys in football.

Despite these rebranding efforts, the club’s journey on the pitch has been challenging, with the team struggling to maintain their position in Serie A. Interestingly, Nike had already been Venezia’s kit provider before Kappa, meaning this collaboration with NOCTA brings the club full circle.

This new partnership with NOCTA brings a fresh aesthetic to Venezia’s kits, signalling the club’s ambition to remain at the forefront of football fashion while embracing a more global image and attracting new audiences. For Drake, it represents a first step into the world of football and an opportunity to extend the influence of his brand.

The Kit Design

As for the kit itself, the Venezia FC 24/25 Home Kit features a predominantly black base, embellished with a delicate layer of NOCTA’s signature star pattern in gold. This pattern adds a touch of luxury to the kit while maintaining the brand’s minimalist aesthetic. Venezia FC’s signature orange and green trim provides a vibrant contrast to the black and gold, ensuring the club’s identity remains front and centre.

The main sponsor, CYNAR Spritz, has its logo prominently displayed, while NOCTA’s logo is placed on the right shoulder. The team’s signature “V” emblem appears on the left shoulder, and “Forza Leoni” (“Go Lions!”) is printed on the back of the neckline.

NOCTA’s expertise in performance wear has been put to good use, creating a kit that is both functional and comfortable for the demanding tasks faced by the players.

What’s Next?

The Venezia FC 24/25 Home Kits will be available for purchase online at a later date, and they are expected to attract significant attention from both football and Drake fans alike. This collaboration is likely to bring Venezia FC into the global spotlight, drawing in new fans and potentially opening up new opportunities for the club.

As more clubs explore collaborations with high-profile brands and celebrities, the lines between sport and lifestyle continue to blur. For Venezia FC, the challenge will be maintaining a balance between embracing this new direction and staying true to its roots as a football club. We love a well-dressed player, but they still need to keep their head in the game. At the end of the day, it’s all about getting to goal.
