A Bit of History
Born and raised in Paris, France, to Moroccan parents, Charaf Tajer's upbringing exposed him to diverse cultural influences. This diverse background later inspired the eclectic blend of styles found in Casablanca's designs.
Tajer's passion for fashion ignited early on, driving him to become a self-taught creative director and designer, while also establishing relationships with prominent brands.
His journey in the fashion industry led him through various roles, providing invaluable insights into design, branding, and marketing.
Before Casablanca, Tajer amassed an impressive resume, collaborating with renowned entities such as the French creative collective Pain Au ChoKolat, streetwear brand Pigalle, and consulting for Supreme.
Additionally, his involvement in the music industry, co-founding the Indie record label and creative agency Pain Surprises, showcased his diverse talents and interests.
In 2018, Tajer realized his lifelong dream with the launch of Casablanca, blending his cultural influences and acquired expertise to create a brand that epitomizes his vision of luxury fashion.
What Is the Brand Known For?
Casablanca's designs are characterized by bold prints, lush fabrics, and retro-inspired silhouettes, drawing inspiration from 1970s aesthetics and Mediterranean landscapes. The brand's collections encompass ready-to-wear clothing, accessories, and footwear for both men and women.
If the bold designs and rich colour palette aren't sufficient to identify the brand, you can always spot Casablanca by its distinctive logos. The primary logo features two interlocking chains forming a clover-like shape, while another popular logo, which can only be described as a heart pretzel, is often repeated to create monogram prints.
The brand has rapidly gained recognition for its innovative fusion of casual sportswear, especially tennis-inspired motifs, with high-end luxury elements.
Casablanca has a standout collection of intricately decorated silk shirts, featuring all sorts of artistic designs. For instance, the SS24 collection, inspired by Nigeria, showcased shirts adorned with painted scenes taken from Lagos, reflecting Tajer's passion for travel as a major source of inspiration.
But it's not just the style that has garnered Casablanca a devoted following. Tajer's commitment to promoting positive values through his work has struck a chord with fashion enthusiasts and celebrities alike.
You may have seen Casablanca on the likes of Drake, LeBron James, Pharrell Williams, Travis Scott, Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid. After all, the brand’s energetic, eye-catching pieces are the perfect fit for red carpet fashion and editorials.
Casablanca's expansion has sparked interest from other brands, resulting in a series of collaborations to produce limited-edition fashion and lifestyle collections.
With New Balance, Casablanca crafted a footwear collection characterized by colourful and retro-inspired designs. In collaboration with French football club PSG, Casablanca introduced a collection that merged sportswear with its own visual design language.
Additionally, Casablanca ventured into collaborations with Globe-trotter for a luggage collection and Bulgari for a line of summery, mosaic inspired leather goods.
The brand's collections include ready-to-wear clothing, accessories, and footwear for both men and women.
Why the Price Tag?
As a luxury fashion brand, Casablanca exudes exclusivity, sophistication, and prestige—qualities that often come with a hefty price tag. But there's more to it than meets the eye.
Firstly, Casablanca prides itself on using only the finest materials, including premium fabrics like silk, cashmere, and fine cotton.
Each piece undergoes meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, from intricate embroidery to precise tailoring, necessitating skilled labour and expertise.
By producing collections in limited quantities, it can be hard to get your hands on Casablanca items, which just makes creates more demand!
Moreover, the brand's designs are anything but ordinary, often featuring unique prints, bold colours, and intricate embellishments.
Consumers are drawn to the creativity and innovation inherent in Casablanca's pieces, contributing to their value and therefore higher prices.

Wondering about sizing? Most Casablanca pieces are true to size, striking a balance between relaxed athleisure and well-structured tailoring.
The popular silk shirts, in particular, are cut generously to allow for an airy and comfortable fit—perfect for savouring those rare summer breezes.
